  Sound Designers have created new sounds for objects in Theatre and Film for many, many years now. This knowledge and practical experience is the logical starting point for the new research field of SID. The aim of this workshop is to bring together practitioners in the fields of Film and Theatre and researchers in Sonic Interaction Design to discuss and exchange knowledge and practices in the field.

  The 2009 Sound and Music Computing Summer School will be organized as a Training School of the SID COST Action. The theme of this summer school is Interacting with Sounds of Porto. This summer school will explore the potential of recording, processing, sharing and interacting with city sounds.

• Milestone: Workshop in Tel Aviv: Vocal Sketching

  Topics: sketching sonic interaction design in general, and in particular, how people use or could use their voice in the initial stages of the sound design process, or sounds for interactions. The voice for sound designers could play a similar role by that one played by the hand for the graphic designer. So the question is: how can we do it with sound? How people do it with sound?
