Nagel, F., Kopiez, R., Grewe, O. and Altenmüller, E. EMuJoy - Software for continuous measurement of perceived emotions in music. Behavior Research Methods, 39(2), p. 283-290. 2007
As emotion plays an important role in the production and perception of sound and music it is important to have a possibility for measuring emotion. The paper describes the software EMuJoy which allows to continuously measure emotions (self-reported) in a two dimensional emotion space in realtime. The feature of realtime ability is highly important for interactive applications as the non-linearity of such applications is one of their main quality factors. The system is implemented in java, it is open source and it was used successfully for studies in perception. The system can be of use for the study of perception phenomena in interactive sonic contexts.
