Winograd, Terry and Flores, Fernando. Understanding computers and cognition, Ablex Publishing Company, 1986

The book addresses the topic of the Rationalist Tradition we find in many theories on cognition and we thus find implemented in many computer programs. The models coming from the fraction of WG 1 will play a role for in the planned guidelines for the design of sonic interaction. Thus, it is seen as crucial to reflect on problems arising in the development process especially in case they are grounded on theories about perception that follow the Rationalist Tradition. Winograd and Flores propose their model of cognition and experience which they put in contrast to the Rationalist Tradition. Their model is based on a combination of Heideggerian hermeneutics and speech act theory.
